Nationaal Huurloket assists tenants in disputes with their landlord, for example about rent or defects. To provide complete support, we process personal data. We handle your data carefully and explain below how and why it is used.

Which data do we collect?

When you ask us for assistance, we may process:

  • your name, address and contact details
  • details about your rental property
  • your tenancy agreement and attachments
  • information about the rent and any defects
  • correspondence with your landlord
  • our advice and the steps taken on your behalf

Data relating to other people

Your file may include details about other people, such as your landlord or a co-tenant. We only process this data when it is necessary for your case.

Good to know

You have a right to privacy. You may request access to, correction of or deletion of your file.

Why do we use your data?

We use your data:

  • to assess your case and provide legal support
  • to communicate about your file and rights
  • to represent or assist you in proceedings
  • to communicate with your landlord
  • to improve our services
  • to comply with legal obligations

When do we share your data?

We only share data when this is necessary for your case. This may include:

  • your landlord
  • the Rent Tribunal
  • the courts
  • legal advisers or representatives
  • IT service providers used for secure storage

We share as little data as possible and only when necessary.

How long do we retain your data?

We do not retain your data longer than necessary. In most cases, data is retained for no more than five years after the last contact, unless a legal obligation requires otherwise.

Your rights

  • have incorrect data corrected
  • request deletion of your data
  • object to the use of your data
  • withdraw consent where applicable
